Context-aware applications require data from various data sources (e.g., sensors) in order to infer the user’s constantly changing context. Often these data sources in heterogeneous devices providing different access mechanisms. To simplify the development of context-aware applications on Android platform, we proposed the ManySense context-aware middleware that not only provides a unified API for raw data as well as inferred context data, but it also has great extensibility through adapter interfaces which allows us to add new data sources easily.  More information about ManySense can be found in this recently accepted journal paper:

  • Authors: Joonas Westlin and Teemu H. Laine
  • Title: ManySense: an extensible and accessible middleware for consumer-oriented heterogeneous body sensor networks
  • Journal: International Journal of Distributed Sensor Networks (SCIE)

Next we will focus on developing activity detection algorithms with Prof. Adil Khan to be coupled with ManySense.
